Whitehead is a Victorian seaside town at the mouth of Belfast Lough, perched on the basalt cliffs where the Antrim coast begins. The famous Gobbins cliff path — one of Ireland’s most dramatic and recently restored coastal walks — is just a mile north at Islandmagee, and the Black Head lighthouse walk is outstanding.
A quiet, characterful Victorian resort with excellent coastal walking directly from the town, Whitehead makes a pleasantly peaceful alternative to busier coastal towns and gives immediate access to the Gobbins — one of Ireland’s most spectacular cliff experiences.
