Sidmouth is the most elegant Regency seaside resort in Devon, set beneath the red sandstone cliffs of the East Devon coast at the western end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The South West Coast Path threads along the cliffs in both directions, with the dramatic Peak Hill viewpoint just west of the town.

An exceptionally elegant Regency town with outstanding architecture and a famous folk festival, Sidmouth makes a superb base for the East Devon section of the Jurassic Coast — red sandstone cliffs that contrast beautifully with the white chalk and grey limestone further east in Dorset.
