Fowey is one of Cornwall’s most charming small ports — a steep town of narrow streets and Georgian merchants’ houses perched above a deep-water estuary made famous by Daphne du Maurier. The Hall Walk circular, crossing the estuary by ferry, is one of the finest short walks in Cornwall.

A beautiful, slightly exclusive town with good independent restaurants, Fowey rewards those who explore on foot — the ferry connections across the estuary make creative circular routes that are quite impossible by car.
