The Newlands Valley runs south-west from Derwentwater into a horseshoe of attractive, accessible fells including Catbells — the most popular short fell walk in the entire Lake District — and the higher, quieter summits of Causey Pike, Knott Rigg and Robinson beyond. The valley itself is scattered with traditional farms and a tiny church.
A peaceful farming valley just a short drive or boat trip from Keswick, the Newlands Valley offers some of the most rewarding and varied fell walking in the northern Lakes, from the gentle and family-friendly Catbells to the more demanding Newlands Horseshoe.
