Hayfield is a historic Dark Peak village closely associated with the 1932 Kinder Mass Trespass, which set off from the village green. Kinder Scout rises directly above via Jacob’s Ladder, and the Sett Valley Trail — a former railway line — gives an easy, traffic-free walk to New Mills.
A characterful Dark Peak village with strong historical associations and direct access to Kinder Scout, Hayfield makes an excellent alternative to Edale for approaching the Kinder plateau, with quieter paths and equally dramatic scenery.
