Goring-on-Thames sits at the Goring Gap, where the River Thames has cut a dramatic gorge through the chalk ridge dividing the Chilterns from the Berkshire Downs. The Thames Path and the Ridgeway national trail cross here, making this one of the most significant walking junctions in southern England.
An exceptionally well-placed village where two national trails cross, Goring-on-Thames makes a superb base for combining riverside and chalk downland walking — the views from Streatley Hill across the Goring Gap are some of the finest in the Thames Valley.
