Much Wenlock is a beautifully preserved small town whose Olympian Games, founded in 1850, directly inspired Pierre de Coubertin to revive the modern Olympics. The town sits directly beneath Wenlock Edge — an eighteen-mile limestone escarpment cloaked in ancient woodland that is one of the finest ridge walks in the Welsh Marches.

A historic and very characterful small town with a magnificent ridge walk on its doorstep, Much Wenlock makes one of the best Shropshire Hills walking bases — Wenlock Edge is consistently rated among England’s finest woodland ridge walks.
