🚗LochgilpheadStart Point

Lochgilphead is the administrative capital of Argyll and Bute — a small, functional town at the head of Loch Gilp with some extraordinary walking country nearby. Kilmartin Glen, just five miles north, contains the greatest concentration of prehistoric monuments in mainland Scotland outside Orkney.

A quiet, practical small town with good local services and exceptional prehistoric walking country on the doorstep, Lochgilphead is a fine base for the Kilmartin Valley and the Knapdale peninsula — one of Scotland’s most rewarding and least-visited landscapes.
