Aylesbury Ring
A circular walk never more than five miles from the centre of Aylesbury, taking in the remoter corners of the Vale and views of the Chiltern Hills.
Walking the Aylesbury Ring is a circular long-distance walk of about 31 miles (50 km) around the market town of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. Originally created by the Aylesbury and District group of the Ramblers, the route is never more than five miles from the centre of Aylesbury, encompassing some of the remoter areas of the Vale and passing through Great Kimble, Dinton, Waddesdon, Hardwick, Rowsham, Hulcott and Aston Clinton. Much of the western route is coincident with the North Bucks Way.
The trail passes through a variety of landscapes, including countryside, woods and quaint villages, and offers walkers views of the Chiltern Hills. It is usually walked over two to three days, with walkers covering between 10 and 15 miles (16-24 km) per day. The trail is well marked and offers a range of accommodation options, including campsites, bed and breakfasts and hotels.
Closures: the LDWA notes that construction of HS2 has affected rights of way between Waddesdon and the railway line north-west of Aylesbury, with closures that were scheduled to run until May 2026. Check the Buckinghamshire Council register of HS2 closures and diversions before you walk.
