Buxton is England’s highest market town, sitting at over 300 metres on the limestone plateau of the White Peak. Its grand Georgian spa architecture belies its position as a serious walking centre, with Chee Dale, the Goyt Valley and Axe Edge Moor all within easy reach.

A handsome Georgian spa town with good hotels, restaurants and transport links, Buxton makes an excellent base for the northern White Peak and southern Dark Peak, with both the Monsal Trail and the moorland of Axe Edge within comfortable reach.
