🚗PenrithStart Point

Penrith is a handsome red sandstone market town and the main gateway to the eastern Lake District, with Penrith Beacon rising directly above the town and the beautiful Eden Valley — often overlooked in favour of the Lakes — stretching away to the east. Ullswater is just a short drive south.

A handsome and well-connected market town with direct rail access from London, Penrith makes an excellent gateway base for both the eastern Lake District and the beautiful, underused Eden Valley to the east.
