Petersfield is a handsome market town at the western edge of the South Downs National Park, with Butser Hill — the highest point in Hampshire’s South Downs — rising directly to the south. Queen Elizabeth Country Park, immediately adjacent, offers extensive waymarked walking through chalk downland and ancient beech woodland.

A pleasant market town with good independent shops and direct rail access from London, Petersfield makes an excellent South Downs walking base — Butser Hill and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park are minutes away.
