Maghera is a small market town on the southern edge of the Sperrin Mountains — the most accessible gateway to the Sperrins from the east, with Slieve Gallion rising immediately to the south and the beautiful Glenelly Valley stretching away to the west. The Ulster Way passes through the surrounding area.

A practical small town with direct road access into the Sperrins from the east, Maghera makes a useful and affordable base for those wanting to explore the quieter southern and eastern sections of the Sperrin Mountains.
