🚗KingussieStart Point

Kingussie and its neighbour Newtonmore sit side by side in the Spey Valley at the western edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Kingussie gives excellent access to the Monadhliath Mountains to the north — a vast, rolling plateau of moorland and remote Corbetts that sees far fewer walkers than the more famous Cairngorm plateau to the east.

A quiet, no-frills Strathspey village with good B&Bs and a direct train from Edinburgh and Inverness, Kingussie makes an excellent and less crowded alternative to Aviemore for those wanting to explore the western Cairngorms and the Monadhliath.
