Ruthin is a beautifully preserved medieval market town in the Vale of Clwyd, surrounded on the east by the Clwydian Range AONB — a long ridge of heathery hills including Moel Famau, the highest point in the range and the site of a Jubilee Tower with outstanding views.

A very handsome small town with a craft centre, good restaurants and the Clwydian Range on the doorstep, Ruthin is the best walking base in north-east Wales for those who want accessible moorland walking combined with an excellent town to return to.
