Dartmouth occupies one of the finest natural harbours in England, and the surrounding South Hams countryside offers superb walking — from the dramatic coast path south to Prawle Point to the wooded Dart Valley trail heading north. The car ferry connections to Kingswear and Dittisham open up excellent circular routes.

A beautiful, historic town with excellent restaurants and accommodation, Dartmouth makes a fine base for South Devon walking, particularly if using the ferry crossings to create routes that would be impossible on foot alone.
