Dolgellau is the finest small town in southern Snowdonia — a compact, dark-stone settlement in a glacial valley at the foot of Cadair Idris, with the Mawddach Estuary stretching away to the west. The Precipice Walk and Torrent Walk are two of the most celebrated short routes in Wales.

A characterful and very Welsh small town with excellent accommodation and walking access in every direction, Dolgellau is the ideal base for southern Snowdonia — Cadair Idris, the Rhinogs and the Mawddach Estuary all lie within easy reach.
