🚗NewtonmoreStart Point

Newtonmore is the shinty capital of Scotland, sitting in the Spey Valley alongside Kingussie at the western gateway to the Cairngorms. The Wildcat Trail — a superb 12-mile circular route taking in the best walking around the village — makes Newtonmore particularly walker-friendly, and Glen Banchor gives immediate access to the Monadhliath Mountains.

A pleasant Strathspey village with a good folk museum, shinty pitches and the Wildcat Trail, Newtonmore makes a relaxed and well-equipped base for Monadhliath and western Cairngorm walking.
