🚗ArbroathStart Point

Arbroath is famous for two things above all others — its smokie (cold-smoked haddock) and the Declaration of Arbroath of 1320, Scotland’s most important historical document. The Seaton Cliffs to the north of the town are a dramatic sequence of red sandstone sea stacks, caves and arches, and the Angus Coastal Path heads north through excellent cliff scenery.

A very characterful Scottish fishing town with excellent fresh fish and smokies, Arbroath makes a fine coastal walking base for the red sandstone Angus coast — among the most dramatic and least-visited cliff scenery in eastern Scotland.
