Wickham is a handsome village built around one of the largest village squares in England, sitting on the lower Meon — a river that William Cobbett described as one of the finest trout streams in the kingdom. The Meon Valley Trail, a disused railway line, runs south towards Fareham and the coast.

A handsome Georgian village with an exceptional square and good access to the lower Meon Valley, Wickham makes a pleasant base for gentle, flat valley walking towards the Solway coast.
