Wendover sits directly beneath Coombe Hill — the highest viewpoint in the Chiltern Hills at 260 metres, crowned by a Boer War memorial and giving views across the Vale of Aylesbury to Oxfordshire on a clear day. The Ridgeway national trail passes directly through the town, and Wendover Woods provides extensive waymarked forest walking.

An exceptionally well-placed small town directly on the Ridgeway with the highest Chiltern viewpoint immediately accessible, Wendover is one of the finest Chiltern Hills walking bases, with extensive forest walking at Wendover Woods.
