Guildford is Surrey’s county town and an excellent base for North Downs and Surrey Hills walking, with Newlands Corner — one of the finest viewpoints in the south-east — just four miles east of the town centre. The North Downs Way passes directly through, and the Wey Valley offers easy waterside walking to the south.

A large, well-served university city with excellent transport connections to London, Guildford makes a useful gateway to the Surrey Hills, with several good walking routes accessible directly from the town centre.
