Marlborough is a handsome market town with one of the widest high streets in England, sitting on the edge of Savernake Forest and within easy reach of Avebury, Silbury Hill and the Ridgeway. The surrounding chalk downland is rich in prehistoric monuments.

A well-served town with good shops and accommodation, Marlborough is the finest base for the Wiltshire chalk downs and the Ridgeway. Avebury — the largest prehistoric stone circle in the world — is just six miles west and easily reached on foot.
