🚗Gatehouse of FleetStart Point

Gatehouse of Fleet is one of Scotland’s most perfectly proportioned small towns — a Georgian planned settlement in the Fleet Valley, surrounded by woodland and sitting just inland from the Solway Coast. Cairnsmore of Fleet, a massive granite dome with wide views, rises directly to the north.

A beautifully preserved Georgian planned town with a good hotel, an excellent café and genuinely remote country on the doorstep, Gatehouse of Fleet is one of the most rewarding and least-known walking bases in southern Scotland.
