Conwy is one of the finest medieval walled towns in Europe — Edward I’s great castle and complete town walls enclosing a tight grid of streets above the tidal estuary. Conwy Mountain rises steeply behind the town, the Sychnant Pass cuts dramatically through the hills to the west, and the Wales Coast Path threads through the estuary and along the shoreline.
A magnificent walled town with a World Heritage castle, excellent fish and chip shops and good accommodation, Conwy makes a superb North Wales base for coastal and mountain walking. The mountain rises directly from the town walls.
