Dungannon is a hilltop market town in mid Tyrone with a strong industrial heritage — the birthplace of the Tyrone linen industry — and some surprisingly good walking nearby. Knockmany Forest has a Neolithic passage tomb at its heart and excellent forest walking, and the Benburb Valley Country Park provides beautiful gorge walking along the Blackwater River.
A large, practical town with good road connections at the heart of Ulster, Dungannon makes a useful base for the quiet Tyrone countryside and the approach to the Sperrins and Fermanagh Lakelands from the east.
