🚗DurnessStart Point

Durness is the most north-westerly village on the Scottish mainland — a scattering of croft houses and guest houses above the limestone gorge of Smoo Cave, with Cape Wrath just twelve miles west and the vast beach of Balnakeil Bay on the doorstep. The walking here is as remote and spectacular as anywhere in Britain.

One of the most remote and magnificent walking destinations in Britain, Durness is worth the long journey for those seeking genuine wilderness. The Cape Wrath peninsula, accessible by ferry and minibus, gives access to Britain’s most north-westerly point.
