Jedburgh is a fine Borders town dominated by its twelfth-century abbey ruins, sitting in the valley of the Jed Water close to the English border. The Borders Abbeys Way connects the four great Borders abbeys — Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh — on a 65-mile circular route.

A handsome Borders town with good services and some of Scotland’s most important abbey ruins, Jedburgh makes a fine base for the southern Borders and the approach to the Cheviot Hills, which rise impressively to the south on the Scottish–English border.
