🚗CaerphillyStart Point

Caerphilly is dominated by its enormous medieval castle — the second largest in Britain after Windsor — and is surrounded by the South Wales valleys, with Caerphilly Mountain rising directly above the town and the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk passing along the high ground to the north.

A large, busy South Wales town with excellent transport links to Cardiff, Caerphilly makes a surprisingly good walking base for the valleys ridgeway walking and the southern Brecon Beacons approach — and the castle is one of the finest in Wales.
