Rye is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns in England — a cobbled hilltop citadel surrounded by the vast flat expanse of Romney Marsh and the shingle beaches of Camber Sands. The walking is flat but deeply atmospheric, through one of England’s most unusual landscapes.
