Ballycastle is the main town of the north Antrim coast, sitting at the eastern end of the Causeway Coast where the landscape becomes wilder and less visited. Fair Head — a dramatic basalt headland rising 200 metres above the sea — is one of the finest viewpoints in Ireland, with views across to Scotland on clear days.
A pleasant market town with a good range of accommodation and services, Ballycastle is the most rewarding base for the wilder eastern section of the Causeway Coast, well away from the tour buses that crowd the Giant’s Causeway.
