Minehead is the official start of the South West Coast Path and sits at the western edge of Exmoor where the moor meets the Bristol Channel. North Hill rises directly above the town, and the medieval village of Dunster is just two miles east.

A traditional seaside resort with good accommodation, Minehead is best approached as a walking gateway — the South West Coast Path and Exmoor fringe offer outstanding walking in both directions.
