Selkirk is a Borders textile town with a fierce civic pride and a strong memory of Flodden — the catastrophic battle of 1513 — set on a hill above the Ettrick Water. The Three Brethren, a distinctive group of cairns on the ridge above town, is one of the finest viewpoints in the Borders.

A proud and characterful Borders mill town with good walks immediately above it, Selkirk makes a quieter and very Scottish alternative to Peebles or Melrose for Borders walking.
