The John Bunyan Trail is a circular route of about 77 miles (124 km) that starts and finishes at Sundon Hills Country Park in Bedfordshire. It was created by the Bedfordshire Group to celebrate the RA Diamond Jubilee and is dedicated to the memory of John Bunyan, the Puritan Evangelist and author of Pilgrim’s Progress, which he wrote in prison.

The route passes through a number of attractive villages and scenic countryside, taking in many places of historic interest connected with Bunyan. He travelled the county preaching, which in Charles II’s time was illegal, and he was arrested and jailed for 12 years.
