Walking the Dales Way is a memorable journey that takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks of England. The Dales Way is a long-distance footpath that stretches for approximately 80 miles from Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria, following the course of the River Wharfe for much of the way.
The trail passes through a variety of landscapes, including lush valleys, rolling hills, and rugged mountains, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The terrain is generally gentle, with some steeper ascents and descents, making it a moderately challenging trail suitable for walkers of all abilities. The trail is typically completed over the course of 5 to 8 days, with plenty of accommodation options available in the many towns and villages along the way.
Walking the Dales Way allows you to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region, from historic market towns to traditional stone-built villages and remote farmsteads. Along the way, you’ll encounter charming pubs and cafes, and have plenty of opportunities to sample local cuisine and meet friendly locals.
