From Crowden, the route goes SW following the floor of the Longdendale Valley alongside Torside, Rhodeswood and Valehouse reservoirs to Tintwistle, on well defined tracks and minor roads. Turning NE, briefly on A628, before climbing, at first gently and then steeply, through plantation forest and former quarries to the moor top. A narrow moorland path (could be boggy in wet weather) leads to Lad’s Leap, then a steep initially rocky path descends back to Crowden via the Pennine Way.
