The Staunton Way is a 22-mile (35 km) long-distance walking trail that runs from Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield to Staunton Country Park near Havant, in Hampshire, southern England. The trail follows a mixture of footpaths, bridleways, and quiet country lanes through picturesque countryside, woods, and farmland.
Starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, the trail initially heads southeast, passing through the villages of Clanfield and Horndean before entering the South Downs National Park. Here, hikers will enjoy stunning views of the rolling hills and chalk downlands of the Hampshire countryside, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife and wildflowers along the way.
The trail then passes through the woodland of Staunton Country Park, a beautiful 1,000-acre estate with gardens, lakes, and walking trails. Here, hikers can take a break and explore the park’s historic follies, landscaped gardens, and woodland walks.
The Staunton Way is typically completed in one or two days, depending on your pace and level of fitness. There are several places to stay along the way, including campsites, B&Bs, and pubs offering accommodation. The trail is well-marked and maintained, and there are plenty of opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way.
