The South West Coast Path is is one of the most scenic and spectacular long-distance walking routes in the country, stretching for 630 miles (1014 km) along the coast of south-west England, from Somerset in the north to Dorset in the east, and then along the coast of Devon and Cornwall in the west.
The path offers stunning views of rugged cliffs, hidden coves, sandy beaches, and picturesque villages. It passes through several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the North Devon Coast, the Cornish Coast, and the South Devon Coast, as well as many famous landmarks and attractions, such as Land’s End, Lizard Point, and the Jurassic Coast.
The path is suitable for walkers of all levels of ability, with sections ranging from gentle strolls to more challenging hikes. There are also plenty of opportunities to stop off at pubs, cafes, and other amenities along the way.
However, it is important to be prepared for the weather, as the path can be exposed to strong winds and rain, particularly during the winter months. It is also recommended to plan ahead and book accommodation in advance, as the path can be busy during peak season.
Now if you thinking of walking it like myself I have broken down the route to manageable stages which would be suitable for myself and the average walker.
