A woodland walk which can be walked in full or split into two sections from Triangle Cricket Club at the half way point. Starts next to the Shell Petrol Station in Sowerby Bridge and ends at the old bridge and pub in Ripponden. Tends to be boggy in all seasons along the old railway line itself so it’s better to track closely alongside it on the wooded verge. Be careful in parts due to steep sided cuttings. The ‘Rishworth Branch Line’ brought paper from Rishworth Mill (now converted into apartments) at Rishworth (just beyond Ripponden) into Halifax. It’s possible to continue the walk along the river to the former Rishworth Mill at Booth Dean for those wanting a longer walk. You’ll pass under a good number of old bridges along the route. The line was in use from 1865 to 1958.
