Starting in Hawkesbury Upton, the trail leads you through pretty farmland and pastures, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. As you follow the Cotswold Way signs, you’ll pass through the charming village of Horton and the historic market town of Chipping Sodbury, with its beautiful medieval buildings.
From here, the trail takes you up onto the Cotswold escarpment, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The climb up to the iconic landmark of Lansdown Hill is challenging, but the panoramic views from the top are well worth the effort.
As you continue along the trail, you’ll pass through beautiful woodland and open fields, with the occasional steep climb and descent to keep things interesting. Along the way, you’ll encounter historic landmarks like the Iron Age hill fort at Kelston Round Hill and the beautiful 18th-century Prior Park Landscape Garden.
The final stretch of this section takes you through the charming village of Bathampton and along the Kennet and Avon Canal before arriving in the historic city of Bath. Here, you can explore the city’s rich history and culture, including the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent, and the beautiful Georgian architecture.
