Time: 6 hours 51 minutes
Elevation: 705 Feet
Terrain: Mixed
Start Point: Slaley

Section 4: Ladycross to Allenheads In this section we start where we left off at Ladycross Quarry and nature reserve. The quarry has provided stone for Durham Cathedral, Hexham Abbey, Morpeth Castle, and the roofs in nearby Blanchland. We cross the moors to Pennypie House and drop down via Shildon Engine House. We explore Blanchland and its Jacobite connection. Following the border between Northumberland and County Durham, we visit Beldon Lead Mine before following the Carriers’ Way (an old drover’s road) to Allenheads.
